Eight days is the shortest trip that still reaches all three parts of Vietnam, and this 8 day Vietnam itinerary does it with two domestic flights. It opens in north Vietnam with two nights in Hanoi either side of a night on a Halong Bay cruise, then flies to Da Nang for Hoi An's old town and the Golden Bridge, and finishes in Saigon for the Cu Chi Tunnels.
7 NIGHTS / 8 DAYS
Starts from
₹ 55,999 / person
Prices are subject to change based on the travel dates.
Land at Noi Bai Airport (HAN), clear immigration and meet your driver for the private transfer into the city. The day is built around an 11:00 am arrival, so an overnight flight from India fits well.
Hanoi Hotel Check-in
Check in to Hanoi La Storia Hotel or similar at 2:00 pm. You sleep here tonight and again on Day 3, with the Halong Bay cruise in between, so leave a bag at reception rather than repacking everything.
Ba Dinh Square & One Pillar Pagoda
The city tour sets off at 3:00 pm by private car. Ba Dinh Square is where Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence in 1945. The mausoleum and the One Pillar Pagoda sit in the same grounds and are seen from outside, since the mausoleum admits visitors only in the morning.
Temple of Literature & Old Quarter
The Temple of Literature opened in 1070 and later held Vietnam's first national academy. The afternoon ends at Sword Lake and the Old Quarter lanes, each named after the trade once worked there. Dinner is on your own account.
Noi Bai Airport → Hanoi Hotel
Private car transfer on arrivalIncluded
DAY02
Halong Bay
Day 2 - Halong Bay Overnight Cruise
Transfer & Cruise Check-in
Breakfast and checkout are at 8:30 am, then a shared coach runs to the Halong pier on the expressway, roughly 2.5 to 3 hours. You board the overnight boat and lunch is served as it clears the harbour.
Sung Sot Cave
Sung Sot, the Cave of Surprises, sits on Bo Hon Island and is the largest grotto in the bay. The route runs through two linked chambers on a lit path, with a stepped climb at the entrance.
Luon Cave Kayaking & Titop Island
The afternoon covers kayaking and swimming in the Luon Cave lagoon, then Titop Island, where around 400 steps reach the viewpoint. Bring swimwear in your day bag, not your main case.
Dinner & Squid Fishing
Dinner is served on board at 7:00 pm, followed by squid fishing from the deck and the evening programme. This is the one night of the trip you spend on the water.
Hanoi Hotel → Halong Bay Pier
Shared coach transfer to the overnight cruiseIncluded
DAY03
Hanoi
Day 3 - Cruise Morning & Return to Hanoi
Breakfast & Cruise Checkout
Breakfast is on the boat and cabins are vacated at 8:00 am, though the cruise keeps sailing through its morning programme before it returns to the pier.
Return Drive to Hanoi
The shared coach reaches Hanoi in the late afternoon, with hotel check-in from 5:00 pm. This is your second and final night in the city.
Evening at Leisure
The evening is free. The Old Quarter night market runs Friday to Sunday, and the lanes around Hoan Kiem Lake close to traffic on those evenings.
Halong Bay Pier → Hanoi Hotel
Shared coach transfer back to HanoiIncluded
DAY04
Da Nang
Day 4 - Flight to Da Nang & Hoi An Ancient Town
Hanoi Checkout & Flight to Da Nang
Check out at 8:30 am and transfer privately to Noi Bai Airport. The schedule assumes an 11:00 am arrival into Da Nang (DAD), so this is a morning sector.
Da Nang Hotel Check-in
A private car runs to Cosmos Hotel Danang or similar, a short walk from My Khe Beach and your base for two nights. Hoi An is about 45 minutes further south.
Hoi An Ancient Town
The half day tour starts at 2:00 pm and covers the tile roofed Japanese Covered Bridge, the Chinese assembly halls and the riverside market on the Thu Bon. You are back in Da Nang around 7:00 pm, before the lanterns are lit, so plan a second visit if you want Hoi An after dark.
Hanoi → Da Nang
Domestic flight, private transfers at both airportsIncluded
DAY05
Da Nang
Day 5 - Ba Na Hills & the Golden Bridge
Cable Car to Ba Na Hills
A shared coach leaves at 8:00 am. The cable car climbs from the valley floor to the summit station and is one of the longest single span systems in the world.
Golden Bridge
The Golden Bridge is the walkway carried by two stone hands at around 1,400 metres. Cloud and mist are common here even when Da Nang is clear, so the view is not guaranteed on any given day.
Wine Cellar, Le Jardin D'Amour & Linh Ung Pagoda
The rest of the day covers the French built wine cellar, the themed gardens at Le Jardin D'Amour and the Linh Ung Pagoda. You return to the Da Nang hotel by about 7:00 pm.
DAY06
Ho Chi Minh City
Day 6 - Flight to Saigon & City Tour
Da Nang Checkout & Flight to Ho Chi Minh City
Check out at 9:00 am and transfer privately to Da Nang Airport. The schedule assumes an 11:40 am arrival at Tan Son Nhat (SGN).
Saigon Hotel Check-in
A private car runs to Prague Hotel Saigon or similar for two nights, with check-in at 2:00 pm. The hotel sits near Pham Ngu Lao, within walking distance of Ben Thanh Market.
Independence Palace & Notre Dame Cathedral
The city tour leaves at 3:00 pm by private car. The Independence Palace is kept as it stood in 1975, down to the furniture and the war room in the basement. Notre Dame Cathedral was built in the 1880s from brick shipped out of Marseille.
War Remnants Museum
The museum covers the war through photography, documents and hardware in the courtyard. Parts of it are graphic, which is worth knowing if you are travelling with children.
Da Nang → Ho Chi Minh City
Domestic flight, private transfers at both airportsIncluded
DAY07
Ho Chi Minh City
Day 7 - Cu Chi Tunnels & Bui Vien Street
Cu Chi Tunnels
A shared coach leaves at 8:30 am for Cu Chi, around two hours northwest. The site preserves part of the tunnel network dug during the war, and a widened stretch is open to crawl through. Skip that section if you are claustrophobic, as the rest of the visit stands on its own.
Afternoon at Leisure
You are back at the hotel by about 2:30 pm with the rest of the day free. Ben Thanh Market and the Saigon Central Post Office are both walkable from District 1.
Bui Vien Walking Street
Bui Vien closes to traffic in the evening and fills with bars and street food. It runs loud and late, so ask for a room on the quieter side of the hotel if you turn in early.
DAY08
Ho Chi Minh City
Day 8 - Saigon Departure
Breakfast & Free Morning
Breakfast is included and the morning is open until checkout. Enough time for a last ca phe sua da or a final run at the market.
Hotel Checkout
Check out at 12:00 pm and meet your driver for the private departure transfer.
Transfer to Tan Son Nhat Airport
Continue to Tan Son Nhat Airport (SGN). Traffic into the airport is heavy between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm, so allow for it when choosing a flight.
