Day-Wise Plan: Thailand Itinerary 5 Days

5 Days Thailand Itinerary

Five days is enough to experience two of Thailand’s most popular destinations. This itinerary keeps travel practical by spending the first half in Phuket and the second half in Bangkok. This section explains how to plan each day from morning to night.

Day 1: Arrive in Phuket + Lion Land + Bangla Walking Street

Morning: From India, there are direct flights to Phuket from Bangalore, Delhi, and Mumbai. Depending on the city you board, it takes 4 – 5 hours to reach.

Take the earliest flight possible and land in Phuket between 10 AM and 12 PM. This gives you time to visit a few places and plan an evening activity.

Day 1 in Thailand

Afternoon: Hotel check-in is at 2 PM. Instead of going to the hotel, plan a visit to Lion Land Phuket and spend about 3 hours there.

Book a Grab taxi from the airport to Lion Land, 39 kilometres south, which takes 45 minutes to reach.

Lion Land is a wildlife park where you can interact with lions at different life stages under staff supervision. From newborn cubs and small lions to medium and white lions, each interaction lasts 10 to 15 minutes and includes separate packages for feeding and photography.

Evening: Head to your hotel in Patong Beach, 9 kilometres west of Lion Land. Patong Beach is the main tourist area to stay in Phuket, with restaurants, shopping, and activities; everything is easily accessible.

Then, check into the hotel around 5 – 6 PM and rest.

Night: After 8 PM, roam the beach area and go to the Bangla Walking Street, which is the centre of Phuket’s nightlife. If your stay is right on the beach, the walking street is just a kilometre away.

Bangla Road is a 400-metre pedestrian street closed to vehicles in the evening. It gets lively and loud with live music venues, bars, food carts, and street performers.

Note: Bangla Road has an adult-oriented atmosphere alongside regular bars and restaurants. Although families can walk through, the entertainment at some venues is not suitable for children.

Day 2: Phuket Elephant Sanctuary Village + Carnival Magic Park

Morning: Wake up at 7 AM. By 8 – 8:30 AM, leave for the Phuket Elephant Sanctuary Village, which is 5.7 kilometres away and takes only 15 minutes to reach.

This is an ethical elephant experience where rescued elephants live in a natural forest environment without being ridden, and no chains are tied to them. It’s a half-day programme that includes elephant feeding, a mud spa session, bathing elephants, and an educational segment on elephant conservation.

Day 2 in Thailand

Afternoon: Return to your hotel by 12 – 1 PM and rest after lunch. For lunch, visit some of the best Thai food places like Patong Social Phuket, Siam Thai, Zuri Restaurant, GlowBloom, Naughty Nuri’s, and No.6 Restaurant. All these places are a 10 – 15-minute walk from the main beach area.

Evening: At 5:00 PM, get ready for the Carnival Magic Park in the Kamala area, which is 10 kilometres from your stay. Since Carnival Magic takes around 5 hours to fully experience, avoid planning any additional evening activities on this day.

Highlights of Carnival Magic

  • Bird of Paradise Buffet Dinner: The buffet includes Indian, vegetarian, Thai and international dishes.
  • River Carnival Parade Show: Held inside the River Palace with a 2,200-seat stadium. The performance features over 150 performers in costume, aerial ballet, animatronics, and special effects across one of the largest stages.
  • Kingdom of Lights: After the main show, you are free to roam in the palace grounds. The garden is lit with LED lights, best for photographs before returning to the hotel.

Note: Carnival Magic Park operates from 5:30 PM to 11:30 PM and only on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.

Day 3: Phuket to Bangkok + Chao Phraya Dinner Cruise

Morning: Check out of your Patong hotel after breakfast. On the way to the airport, take a stop at Kata Viewpoint and Wat Chalong Temple.

Choose a flight departing between 11 AM and 12 PM, so you get enough time to visit both attractions without rushing.

Day 3 in Bangkok thailand

Kata Viewpoint is a hillside point on the road between Kata and Karon beaches in southern Phuket. From here, you see three beaches at once: Kata Yai, Kata Noi, and Karon.

Your second stop before reaching the airport is Wat Chalong. It is a Thai Buddhist temple in Phuket. The main structure is a multi-tiered building in white and gold.

Afternoon: Flight from Phuket International Airport (HKT) to Bangkok takes 1 hour 25 minutes. Reach Bangkok around 1 PM.

Take a cab to the Pratunam area, which is 34 kilometres from the airport. This is one of the best areas to choose in Bangkok if you plan to include a river cruise, as it is the main pickup point.

Also, if you have shopping in Bangkok primarily on your itinerary, Pratunam is a hub for wholesale shopping, street food, and offers budget-friendly hotels.

Check into your hotel, have lunch, and rest until evening.

Evening: It is time for one of Bangkok’s best dinner cruises, the Chaophraya Princess.

When you book, you also have a pickup service.

The cruise runs daily from 7 PM to 9:30 PM. You will have an international buffet to enjoy. Then watch the city lights reflecting in the river. From the boat, get a perfect view of the Grand Palace and Wat Arun lit up at night. Plus, there are music performances to entertain you.

Day 4: Sea Life Bangkok + Madame Tussauds + Mahanakhon SkyWalk

Morning: Your first stop is SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World, which opens at 10 AM.

From the Pratunam area, it takes 10 – 15 minutes.

Sea Life Bangkok is one of Southeast Asia’s largest aquariums, located in the basement of Siam Paragon mall. Here, there are over 400 species of aquatic life across multiple themed zones, including pufferfish, clownfish, sharks, and otters.

Day 4 in Thailand

Plus, you have exciting things, such as a 4D cinema, a glass-bottom boat ride over the main tank, and an Undersea Explorer VR experience.

Around 11:30 AM, visit Madame Tussauds Bangkok. It is located in the same Siam Paragon complex. Madame Tussauds has over 90 lifelike wax figures of international and Thai celebrities, sports stars, and historical figures, including Bollywood stars. The museum has interactive exhibits where you can pose for photographs alongside the figures.

Afternoon: Rest and have lunch at one of the restaurants near Siam Paragon or close to your hotel. Also, Bangkok has good Indian restaurants if you are craving some.

Evening: Visit the Mahanakhon SkyWalk, Bangkok’s highest observation deck. It is on the 78th floor of the King Power Mahanakhon building, 314 metres above the city.

The deck spans the 74th, 75th, and 78th floors and includes an indoor observation area, an outdoor rooftop glass tray where you can stand on a glass floor, and a SkyRide virtual-reality flight simulator on the ground floor.

Night: This is your last night in Thailand and your only chance to experience some of the lively places in Bangkok.

Bangkok has the best rooftop bars. Visit one for dinner and enjoy the city views. If not, walk around your area and eat street food for a lower price.

Day 5: Shopping + Departure

Morning: As this is your final day in Thailand, wake up early and enjoy your final Thai coffee or tea from one of the nearby cafes.

Around 11 AM, check out of the hotel. If you booked your flight late in the evening, request the hotel to store your luggage for a few hours.

Day 5 in Thailand

Afternoon: Now, you have the whole afternoon to revisit your favourite restaurants and visit markets to buy some of the best things from Bangkok to take back home.

Shopping Places to Consider

  • Chatuchak Weekend Market
  • Pratunam Market
  • Platinum Fashion Mall
  • MBK Center
  • ICONSIAM

Evening: By 5 PM, finish all your shopping. The drive from the Pratunam area to the airport takes 50 – 60 minutes. The travel time varies depending on traffic and your exact pickup location.

Moreover, you need to reach the airport at least 3 hours before the flight time. So, booking a flight after 8 PM gives you more time to spend in Bangkok.

Practical Tips for Indians When Visiting Thailand

  • Visa: From June 2026, Thailand will no longer be visa-free. So, every Indian passport holder must obtain a visa to enter the country.
  • Vegetarian food: Most organised events, such as Carnival Magic’s Bird of Paradise buffet and the Chaophraya Princess dinner cruise, offer vegetarian or Indian menu options. However, it is difficult to find pure vegetarian food at local or Thai restaurants. Make sure you inform them prior to ordering.
  • Best season: November to February offers the most pleasant weather across Phuket and Bangkok with lower humidity and less rainfall.
  • Transport: Download Grab for commute. It is safer, and you can avoid negotiating with local taxis.
  • Carry cash: Street food stalls, local markets, and smaller shops often prefer cash payments, though UPI and cards are available.
  • Power banks: Full-day tours and constant map use to roam the city will drain batteries quickly. To save you from that, a power bank is essential to have with you.
  • Dress code: Cover your shoulders and knees, and remove shoes when entering any temples.

Conclusion

Without taking a long holiday, you can enjoy both island life and city attractions with this 5-day 4-night Thailand trip.  The key is to plan your flights, hotel locations, and activities carefully so you can spend more time enjoying and less time travelling. If you have additional days, consider extending your trip to some of the beautiful Thai islands near Phuket and plan a day or two there.
