Shares
Key Takeaways

  • Indian passport holders need a visa to visit Bali, with the option to get a B1 Visa on Arrival (VOA) at the airport or apply for a B1 e-VOA online before the trip.
  • Both VOA and e-VOA cost IDR 500,000, allow a 30-day stay and can be extended once for another 30 days.
  • Bali Tourist Levy is a mandatory entry requirement separate from the visa and currently costs IDR 150,000 per person.
  • You also require the All Indonesia Arrival Card to enter Bali. The form is free and can be submitted in the three-day period before you arrive in Indonesia.

Bali has long been a favourite among Indian travellers looking for beaches, tropical landscapes, wellness stays and an easygoing holiday vibe.

But before planning the Bali trip, there’s one important thing to sort out: the visa. Bali is not visa-free for Indians, but we are eligible for a visa on arrival or an electronic visa on arrival.

Read on to find out more about the Bali visa for Indians, including fees, required documents, online application steps, and what else you need to complete the entry process.

Bali Visa Options for Indians

For short tourist trips to Bali, Indians can choose between B1 Visa on Arrival (VOA) and the B1 electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA). A C1 Tourist Visa is an option when the trip is longer.

Bali Visa

B1 Visa on Arrival (VOA)

You can get the VOA after arriving at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Bali.

Stay: Up to 30 days from the date of arrival

Extension: Possible for 30 more days by applying through an immigration office

Visa fee: IDR 500,000 (approx. INR 2,682); a 30-day extension also costs IDR 500,000

*The INR amounts are approximate and can change with the exchange rate.

Getting a physical VOA means waiting at the airport payment counter before immigration. If you apply for an e-VOA before travelling, you can skip this payment queue. That said, a physical VOA is very practical for spontaneous trips.

Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA)

The e-VOA is the electronic version of the B1 Visa on Arrival, for which you can apply through the official Indonesian e-Visa portal before travelling.

Stay: 30 days from the date of arrival

Extension: Another 30 days can be requested online through the same e-Visa portal. Apply at least 7-14 days before your initial 30-day stay expires, as the extension may take time to process.

Validity: An approved e-VOA must be used within 90 days of issue. This is different from the 30-day stay, which starts when you enter Indonesia.

Visa fee: IDR 500,000 (approx. INR 2,682), and an additional IDR 500,000 for extension

Note: You can apply for e-VOAs for up to five travellers together, make a single payment and track all applications from one account.

C1 Visa for Longer Stays

C1 is a single-entry tourist visa that gives a longer initial stay than B1. This option may suit trips longer than 30 days. You can apply for it through Indonesia’s official e-Visa portal.

Stay: Up to 60 days from arrival on the initial C1 stay permit

Extension: Can be done twice for 60 days each online.

Visa fee: IDR 1,000,000 (approx. INR 5,363); each extension costs the same

  2. Pay the visa fee using cash in IDR or major foreign currencies (USD, EUR, AUD) or an international credit/debit card, then collect your receipt.

Bali Entry Requirements Besides a Visa

Apart from your visa, you need two more things to complete the entry process for Bali: the Bali Tourist Levy and the All Indonesia Arrival Card.

Bali Tourist Levy

The Bali Tourist Levy is a mandatory fee for foreign tourists visiting Bali. It is separate from your visa fee and can be paid online through the official Love Bali portal before your travel.

You only need to pay the levy once per trip, and it remains valid for your entire stay in Bali, including any visa extension period.

Tourist Levy: IDR 150,000 (approx. INR 805)

You will receive a Levy Voucher with a QR code by email after payment. Save it on your phone to show it at the airport when entering Bali.

All Indonesia Arrival Card

The All Indonesia Arrival Card is a free online arrival declaration for international travellers entering Indonesia. It combines immigration, customs, health and quarantine declarations into a single form. It does not replace a visa or the Bali Tourist Levy.

You can fill out the form through the official All Indonesia website or app in the three-day period before you arrive in Indonesia. Make sure the details you enter match your passport and other travel documents.

After submitting the form, you will receive a QR code. Keep it accessible on your phone to show at the airport when you arrive.

Document Checklist for Entering Bali

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months
  • Approved e-VOA or documents/payment method for a physical VOA
  • Return/onward flight ticket
  • Accommodation details
  • Proof of funds
  • All Indonesia QR code
  • Bali Tourist Levy QR code

Common Reasons Why Your Bali Visa Gets Rejected or Causes Entry Problems

A visa application can run into problems because of a simple mistake in your documents or application. Be aware of these points before you submit your e-VOA or travel to Bali:

  • Make sure your name, passport number, date of birth and other details entered on your e-VOA and All Indonesia Arrival Card match your passport exactly.
  • Upload clear, readable copies of the required documents and make sure you have provided all the information requested.
  • You should have enough money to cover your expenses during your stay in Indonesia, and you should be able to show proof if asked.
  • Keep a confirmed return or onward ticket that meets the visa requirements.
  • For an e-VOA, make sure your card is enabled for international online transactions and that the payment goes through successfully. If you plan to get the physical VOA at the airport, carry some IDR (Indonesian Rupiah) as a backup in case your card payment does not work.
  • Choose a visa that matches your purpose of travel and planned length of stay. Work or study, for example, may require a different visa or permit.
  • An approved e-VOA must be used within 90 days of issue.
  • Past overstays or other unresolved immigration issues can cause problems with future applications or entry.

Conclusion

Getting a Bali visa as an Indian traveller is fairly straightforward once you choose the right visa and have your documents ready.

For a short holiday, the B1 Visa on Arrival or e-VOA covers stays of up to 30 days, while the C1 Tourist Visa is an option for longer trips.

In addition to the visa, remember to complete the All Indonesia Arrival Card and pay the Bali Tourist Levy before your trip.
