1.  Sekumpul Waterfall:

Deemed to be the Most Beautiful one among all the Bali waterfalls, the name of this waterfall is a Balinese word for “group” or “collection”. This plunging beauty is named so because this waterfall is made up of a set of seven falls gliding through the thick jungles of a village of the same name – Sekumpul. 

Each of the falls is different in their sizes and are separated by lush green hills of bamboo and coffee cultivation. The highest waterfall among the seven is about 260 feet tall. Known to be one of the most adventurous trekking trails, it offers adventure seekers some good challenges. However the path is such that nobody will mind it, the scenic beauty itself is enough to cheer you up. You will come by small streams on your way. But all the hard work does pay off once you arrive at the waterfalls.

2. Yeh Mampeh Waterfall:

Also called Les Waterfalls, as it is situated in a cute little village named Les. One among the hidden gems in Bali, this is a waterfall which is known only to the adventurous few. The pure white cascading waterfalls is a sight to behold amidst all the foliage. 

One of the tallest Bali waterfalls, it comes tumbling down from a height of about 130 feet. And hence the name means “Flying Water” in Balinese. You could easily spend a whole day at this untouched territory. You can take a leisurely swim in its naturally formed blue swimming pool, explore the nearby caves, and just allow yourself to be lost in the gorgeous and rich nature surrounding the falls.

3.  NungNung Waterfall:

Hands down, the best waterfall in Bali. This waterfall is nothing but a treat for the eyes! Crashlanding from a height of 165 feet, this charmer is the tallest among all falls on this island. Situated in a small village called NungNung, the path to this waterfall itself is a thriller. 

This fall is present at the bottom of a gorge and you will have to climb down about 500 steps. The steps might seem a bit risky, you will have to be really careful while descending them. However, you are in for a feast at the bottom. The welcoming sight of the gorgeousness of the cascading water amidst the dense green plantations and paddy fields making a serene pool at the foot will surely hypnotize you with its beauty.

4.  Aling-Aling Waterfall:

The one of its kind Bali Waterfalls, this one is especially for the adventure seekers. All of us would have only seen water slides in amusement parks. But in Bali, we can actually experience a natural water slide of a superb 115 feet. 

This is a unique waterfall that comes tumbling down as twins with each at a speed of their own. And the main attraction here is how it has formed a slide in the hills along which you could just slide into the mesmerizing swimming pool. Present in the village of Sambangan, you will have to trek through rice fields and multiple flights of stairs. 

But, you will never be disappointed once you reach your destination which is a guaranteed promise!

5.  Tegenungan Waterfall:

One of the most popular waterfalls in Bali this falls is different from all the previously mentioned ones, in terms of the location. Present in a village of Ubud called the Kemenuh village, between lush green paddy fields and dense jungles, but not situated on a mountain or a hill which is usually the type of spot where you will find such beauties. 

This is also a local hotspot for a quick recess from the boring duties of everyday life. You will always be able to see a few people in this fall happily spending their time with their buddies and loved ones. It is especially dear to the mature photographers who are on the path of making it big in that field. The best time to visit this Bali Waterfall would be during the sunset as the gleaming sun’s rays tend to reflect off the gushing waters.

6.  Peguyangan Waterfall:

An unparalleled beauty! Unknown to many of them this hidden treasure is actually tough to find. It is also known as the “Blue Staircase to Heaven”. Present on the side of the cliff right on the beach of the stunning Nusa Penida, it takes a descent of about  500 steps to reach the spot. You will have to take the guidance of a local guide for directions else you are bound to get lost. 

This waterfall is not the thunderous tumble of water from a stupendous height. But, is a blissful and bubbly flow of many cascades. This feature makes this falls one of the best natural Spa where you can relax and get a massage for free. 

The best part of this being the final destination of the water that tumbles down the rocks. They go and join the sea directly and hence this provides one of the best panoramic views in the whole of Bali. To add there is also a temple down the waterfalls.

7.  Gitgit Waterfall:

A 115 feet tall mesmerizing shower of water is another tourist magnet of Bali. Most of the tourists on their way to the Lovina beach make sure to have a pit stop at this scenic spot. A great place to refresh and just plunge into during the peak summers. The nature surrounding this Bali Waterfall is out of the world. Wherever you see you are bound to find only greenery, every inch of the way. 

Given it is one of the most popular destinations, there are even a few adventurous activities like, canoeing, cliff jumping, swinging right across the falls, and much more. Along with this unequivocal beauty, there are also legends associated with it. 

You also have to watch out for your belongings as there are many monkeys as well. One of the famous ones is that is a couple bathing together in this waterfall, they will undergo separation in the near future!

8.  Tibumana Waterfall:

Another one of Nature’s treasures, this small yet gorgeous cascade of twin falls is like a picture straight out of a romantic movie. Falling straight down a small height of 65 feet it forms a perfect curtain to the hidden caves. These crystal clear waterfalls lie in the Apuan village in the Susut Bangli district of Bali. It also forms one of the most tempting natural swimming pools which is securely guarded by the rocks. 

The best place to splash around and spend some quality time with your loved ones. Mere words are not enough to describe such elegance. One should really not miss visiting this Bali Waterfall.

There is even a belief attached to this fall. Locals are of the opinion that the caves are a secret pathway to the most revered  Balinese Hindu temple, The Besakih temple!

9.  Tukad Cepung:

There cannot be any other waterfall as beautiful as this one. Sourcing from a river, this secret waterfall is the newest addition to the long list of Bali Waterfalls. You have to be in-person to soak in the beauty of this place. The waterfall plunges into the depths on the cliff making it the most photogenic places ever. Extremely suitable for a romantic photoshoot, you should consider yourself lucky if you get to spot the magical rainbow formation across this enchantress. 

A little bit of a struggle to locate, but once you locate this falls, it is really hard to leave it back and move on to the next destination. Though not surrounded by greenery on all sides of the falls, this place has a sprawling cliff top as a spectacular replacement.

However, given that this fall is in the middle of a cliff, one should always be mindful of the water level and it is always advised to have some knowledge of the weather forecast before heading straight here.

10. Kanto Lampo Waterfall:

A picture-perfect waterfall near the beach city of Seminyak, this is located in a modest village of Beng. When you picture a waterfall, what comes to your mind is exactly what you will see and experience here. Just the right amount of adventure, mystery, and folktales makes this Bali Waterfall even more interesting. 

Apart from being one among the most attractive destinations, this is also believed to be a blessing to the locals. The story has it that this waterfall was born recently post some serious prayers. There is even a cave near this waterfall which is said to have emerged after the prayers and currently it is being used for meditation. This cave is also inhabited by some of the rear species of Bats as well. There is a Hindu temple as well in the premises which have some beautiful carvings on it!

Things to Remember:

  • Wear proper sports shoes and full pants, as the paths are not always straightforward and you might have to hike through thick jungles to get you to the desired waterfalls
  • Keep your things in a waterproof bag. Don’t forget to carry a first aid kit and sufficient drinking water
  • Towels, waterproof lens bag for your camera(if any), bathing suits, and any lotion or prescribed medications if necessary

It is definitely not possible to visit all the waterfalls in one single vacation. However, these destinations are such that if you spend a holiday dedicated to only the Bali waterfalls you will still feel very refreshed and not at all bored.
